Built for the Beach: Grenadier Joins RNLI Front Line

INEOS Automotive has begun delivering the first batch of its rugged Grenadier 4x4s to the RNLI, marking the start of a five-year partnership aimed at supporting the charity’s lifesaving work around the UK coast.

In total, 20 Grenadier Station Wagons will join the RNLI fleet, helping volunteer crews position, launch and recover D-class lifeboats. These aren’t your average car park duties either - we’re talking soft sand, shifting shingle and the occasional splash through shallow surf. Exactly the sort of terrain where a proper, no-nonsense 4x4 earns its keep.

The first stations to take delivery include Flint, Lytham, Morecambe and Seahouses, where crews will be putting the Grenadiers straight to work. Whether it’s prepping for a callout or responding to an emergency at sea, these vehicles are set to become a key part of day-to-day operations.

And there’s more to come. The next wave of vehicles will feature the latest 2026 updates, bringing improved on-road handling and enhanced safety tech - all without dulling the Grenadier’s off-road edge. It’s a welcome balance, especially for crews who need confidence both on the tarmac and when heading off the beaten track (and beyond it).

By August, 12 RNLI stations are expected to have Grenadiers in service, strengthening the charity’s ability to respond quickly and effectively when it matters most.

It’s a partnership that makes perfect sense: tough vehicles meeting tough conditions, all in support of volunteers who do an extraordinary job. And if ever there was a real-world test for a 4x4, launching lifeboats into the sea has to be right up there.
