Super Sparrow SwivelSip Bottle
If you spend your weekends bouncing down green lanes, pitching up at soggy campsites or just trying to stay hydrated on a long dog walk, a decent drinks bottle quickly becomes a trusted bit of kit. The Super Sparrow SwivelSip 3.0 Edition wide mouth bottle is very much aimed at that ‘chuck it in the vehicle and forget about it’ crowd – and for the most part, it does a cracking job.
The headline benefit is convenience. The SwivelSip spout which is attached to a removable (for easier cleaning) straw inside that makes drinking easy whether you’re driving, hiking or rummaging through a rucksack as there’s no need to tip the bottle up. When closed, the spout sits below the rim which makes it hard to accidentally flip it open, and it coped well with no spillages after being knocked about in a 4x4 footwell.
The powder-coated exterior looks good and helps with grip, though I think, just from the feel of the thickness, that it may eventually scratch off a little if you have a tendency to chuck it about. It has a flexible, soft-grip ergonomic handle for easy carrying.
Insulation
Insulation is another strong point. The double-walled premium 18/8 stainless steel design, free from BPA, keeps cold drinks cold for a decent 12 hours and hot drinks stay that way for up to 6 hours. For camping trips, that means water that’s still refreshing by mid-afternoon or a brew that hasn’t gone lukewarm before you’ve finished setting up camp. It’s not magic, but it’s more than good enough for real-world outdoor use.
Cleaning
The wide mouth opening makes filling and cleaning refreshingly easy. Ice cubes go in without a fight, and you don’t need specialist brushes just to give the bottle a decent wash.
Though it can all be put through a dishwasher, I would recommend cleaning the straw (it comes with 2 straws, so you have a spare) properly with a straw brush to avoid lingering flavours.
Any Drawbacks?
We tested the 750ml/25oz version, and the bottle is on the chunky side, so ultralight hikers may find it a bit heavy, and if you have small hands you may struggle a little with grip.
Our Verdict
Overall, the Super Sparrow SwivelSip 3.0 wide mouth bottle is a solid, user-friendly option for campers, overlanders and outdoor enthusiasts who value ease of use and durability. It’s practical, well thought out and tough enough to earn its place alongside the rest of your adventure kit.
