Vdub at the Pub Festival in Wimborne, Dorset is now celebrating its 9th year, having grown from its humble beginnings in 2008 as a day event at local pub Drusilla’s Inn, to the eclectic, full weekend of festival entertainment it is today.
Held on the 24th - 26th June at Wimborne, Dorset, there was an array of activities on offer at this year’s Vdub at the Pub, including stand up paddle boarding and kayaking down the River Stour, which neighbours the festival site, hosted by the Hobie Cat Centre. Land based entertainment included Dodgeball, Welly Wanging and Wife Carrying competitions, a Tug-of-War tournament and pull the 110 Land Rover, as well as a full weekends live music from 12am-midnight every day and dance tent til late.
For children there was an lots to entertain, including Go Karting, Skate Ramp, inflatables, Zorbing Arena, Surf Simulator and free daily magic shows from Alfredo the Magic Man, free sandpit area and much more.
Sunday’s Show and Shine competition hosted 16 categories of Volkswagen, including Best Beetle, Splitscreen, Bay, T25, T4, T5, Jetta, Golf, Polo, Karmann Ghia, Fastback, Newies (2000 onwards), Open Top, Rat, Air Cooled and Best in Show. Special awards were also given for Best paint, interior, sound system, lowest on the move and most in need of improvement. Brand new to Vdub at the Pub was guest category for 2016 of Best Land Rover, as a nod to the Land Rover Defender and its final year of production.
Festival goes enjoyed an eclectic range of trade stalls, autojumble area, a brand new glamping area, a vast choice in street food and an array of local ales, spirits and wines at the Pub bar.
Camping was available for just £30 for an adult weekend camping ticket or £8 for day tickets. 12-15 year olds paid £15 to camp all weekend and £5 for day tickets, whilst kids under the age of 12 went free.
