Seeland Estate 18” 5mm Wellington Boot

Going back to around 4 years ago, I was sent 6 pairs of wellies to review for a magazine, and being perfectly honest, they were all very good.  However, there will be always 1 pair that stands out above the rest, and for me it was Seeland’s Estate 18” wellington boot.

With the top of the boot finished off with leather trim and an adjustable tightening mechanism to help keep out the elements, my feet felt spoilt, especially with the Vibram sole and 5mm neoprene lining for those particularly cold days.

The Estate was the tallest welly in the group and fitted nicely around both my feet and calves, and consequently kept them in place, even when wearing the thinest of socks.

My demands for a welly are fairly straight forward, they must be easy to drive in, comfortable whilst jumping in and out of vehicles, warm whilst stood around watching trials, yet tough and comfortable for general meanderings which includes long walks.  The Estates excelled.  On the subject of walking, the Estates are indeed comfortable and supportive on all surfaces, including pavements and stone ridden tracks.  This can be put down to their Vibram Hunting Sole System which gives an amazing shock absorbing feel with plenty of grip.

As you can elsewhere in this section, they aren't the only pair of wellies that I wear, and they've shared the responsibility of keeping my feet warm and comfortable over the years.  However, they have always been my go-to boots and consequently mostly live in Deux Smurf for those times when you need a pair of wellies the most, and they haven't let me down yet.

These wellies have a comfort rating of -5C and in my opinion are top quality, comfortable and offer great value.
