Any Drawbacks

Because they contain Merino wool you have to machine wash in cold water, on gentle cycle, with socks inside-out, which can be a bit of a faff if you are used to chucking everything in on the same wash, but as we have had quite a few Darn Tough socks come through Muddy Towers over the years I can attest that if you stick to their instructions your socks will last, and keep their size and shape. Don’t just wing it.

The price is also a tad dear, and did give my mum a shock when I told her how much, but if, like us, you like to get out and stomp up hills or take really long dog walks then having practical, technical and extremely comfortable socks is as important as having a great pair boots. Don’t skimp, your feet will thank you.

Oh, and Darn Tough say that theses socks are ‘Unconditionally Guaranteed for Life’ - claiming that ‘if they aren’t the longest lasting socks you’ve ever owned, you can return them for another pair’. This definitely makes the price much more acceptable knowing they will last.

Our Verdict

This is the first time I’ve got the chance to test out Darn Tough’s Midweight Hiking Socks, and I am not disappointed. The cushioned sole is a delight, and my toes love that there is no rub from nasty seams. I now know why Damian has been banging on about them for years!
