Helinox Table One Review
What Is the Helinox Table One?
The Helinox Table One is quite a game-changer here at Muddy Towers, it’s light, practical, compact and strong. Its frame is built with ultra-lightweight and exceptionally strong DAC aluminium alloy poles with hubs and joining components moulded using a high-strength nylon resin that’s carefully engineered to achieve precise, solid, secure pole attachments.
How Easy Is It to Set Up?
The setup is so simple: snap together the shock-corded legs, slot on the top poles and the mesh tabletop, and it’s job done, and once erected the mesh top remains taut enough to prepare food, and even cook on.
The two centre cup holders are a superstar feature that keep your drinks upright even on uneven grass, and they have bits of fabric to grip your can, cup or glass if it’s narrower than normal.
It’s light too at just 626g, yet Helinox say it can support up to 50Kg (110 lb) once assembled. That’s over 70 times its own weight! I don’t think anyone is going to put enough on it to test out that weight capacity (I’m certainly not), but I did take it with me to a recent festival and had the Ecoflow River 3 Power station (3.55Kg), a book, two pairs of glasses and a drink on it and it easily managed them all. The other weekend Damian was unpacking all manner of stuff, and placed a 10 pack of Guinness (camping essentials) on one end of the table, and it took the weight with ease. Impressive!
This clever little table which opens out to 38(H) x 60(L) x 40(W)cm, comes packed away in a bag that is just 42cm long and 11cm wide so it won’t take up much room in your car or on your bike.
Any Drawbacks?
Its low height is ideal for popping your drinks, books and gadgets on when you are relaxing in your chair, but it’s not the most practical for eating, as it’s low height make it impractical to use as a dining table, and its mesh top it isn’t the easiest to wipe clean on the go - sticky spills can be a pain.
If there is nothing on the table, the upside of its light weight can also be a downside, because if there’s a gust of wind you’ll be chasing it down the campsite, so always keep something placed on it!
Final Verdict: Should You Buy the Helinox Table One?
The Helinox Table One is a clever blend of portability and strength, making it a fantastic bit of kit for festivals, camping trips or just lounging in the garden. For the casual camper the price may be a sticking point, but if space, weight, strength and durability are important factors to your choice, its ease of setup, impressive load capacity, and compact pack size make it a piece of gear you’ll wonder how you managed without.
