What’s New? EcoFlow Glacier Classic Series

Chill Innovation, No Mains Required
If you’ve ever found yourself halfway up a green lane or knee-deep in a soggy field at a campsite wondering why your milk now resembles a warm smoothie, you’re not alone. Thankfully, EcoFlow, the tech-savvy bods behind those clever portable power stations, a favourite at Muddy Towers, have launched the new Glacier Classic portable fridge-freezer series, aimed squarely at campers, overlanders, and 4x4 folk who like their food fresh and their drinks fridge cold, even when they’re miles from civilisation.

Meet the Line-Up: Three Sizes, Three Adventures
The new Glacier Classic comes in three sizes:

  • 35L – The nimble one. Compact enough to squeeze into smaller 4x4s and camper setups, yet with enough room for a couple of days' worth of essentials.

  • 45L – The ‘just right’ model for many. Spacious enough for families or weekenders who don’t want to compromise.

  • 55L – The big lad. Designed for serious off-grid getaways where you need to feed a small army or just fancy taking 90 cans of pop and a pork pie the size of Yorkshire.

All three run off 12V or mains, and they play nicely with EcoFlow’s own battery systems and solar panels.

Single-Zone vs. Dual-Zone
A key difference between the models lies in the temperature zones.

The 35L model is a single-zone unit, meaning you can use it as either a fridge or a freezer (down to a chilly -25°C), but not both at the same time. Perfectly fine for most day or weekend trips when you know what you’re packing.

The 45L and 55L models, on the other hand, are dual-zone. With a clever removable divider and two temperature controls, you can run half as a fridge and half as a freezer. Or both as fridges. Or both as freezers. Basically, it’s your call. Fancy beer on one side and ice cream on the other? Sorted.

Optional Battery: Mains-Free Magic
One of the Glacier Classic’s standout features is the optional plug-in 298Wh battery. This lets you run the fridge without needing a vehicle or mains connection, ideal for when you’re setting up base camp or want to keep the bacon, sausages or avocado chilled while the 4x4's off exploring.

EcoFlow reckons you’ll get up to 43 hours of runtime on a single charge (with the 35L model, a bit less on the bigger ones). Of course, your mileage may vary depending on usage, outside temp, and how often you’re reaching in for a cheeky snack.

And yes, you can top up the battery via solar, mains, or your 12V socket. I you’re already using EcoFlow gear (like the Alternator Charger, Delta or River series), it integrates nicely into your off-grid setup. Of course, the optional battery can also be used as a 100w USB-C.

App Control: Fridge, Meet Smartphone
Naturally, this wouldn’t be an EcoFlow product if it didn’t come with an app. The EcoFlow mobile app, in my experience, is brilliant and lets you adjust the temperature of each zone, monitor battery life, and switch modes remotely. There’s also a Temperature Alert that lets you know if the internal temperature deviates by over 5°C for 10+ minutes. So if you’re lazing by a river and fancy chilling your wine a bit more, just whip out your phone. Welcome to the future.

Efficiency, Build and Insulation
All three models use energy-efficient compressors and thick 53mm insulation, helping them stay cold without guzzling power. They’ve been tested to cool from 30°C down to 0°C in about 15 minutes, which is faster than you can put up most tents (unless you're in a pop-top, in which case - show off).

Build-wise, they’ve got tough, camper-friendly bodies, reinforced corners, and heavy-duty handles. What they don’t have is the option of wheels or a telescopic handle like the previous version, so shifting the 55L across a muddy field might require strong arms or a strategically bribed teenager.

Another neat feature not on the older Glacier is the Dual-Sided Door Access. Now you can access your items from either side, no matter how the Glacier is positioned in your vehicle.

Modes, Noise & Nerdy Bits
There are two main cooling modes:

Max Mode – for quick chill-down when you need things frosty right now.

Eco Mode – for sipping power slowly and steadily, great when running off battery or solar.

Noise levels are impressively low too, around 35dB in Eco Mode, so it won’t drown out your campfire natter.

Pricing & Availability
At the time of writing, you’re looking at:

£699 for the 35L

£749 for the 45L

£849 for the 55L

Plus £299 for the optional battery

However, EcoFlow are offering ‘bundle’ prices that include the extra battery:

£899 for the 35L

£949 for the 45L

£1,049 for the 55L

That puts the Glacier Classic series in the premium bracket, but you're paying for dual-zone flexibility, off-grid capability, and some very smart design.

From May 29th ‘25, you can buy the GLACIER Classic 35L directly on Amazon and the EcoFlow official website, or pre-order the GLACIER Classic 45L and 55L.

Also, if you buy any model of the GLACIER Classic or the GLACIER Classic + Extra Battery Bundle between May 29 and July 31 (2025), will receive a £100 discount as part of an exclusive Early Bird Deal.

Final Thoughts
EcoFlow’s Glacier Classic range adds a serious level of convenience to life on the road (or in the woods, field, or beach car park). With its sharp design, clever dual-zone system (on the larger models), and off-grid capability thanks to the battery and solar options, it’s an exciting addition to the growing world of tech-enabled camping gear.

You might not need a fridge that talks to your phone and chills in minutes, but once you’ve got one, you’ll wonder how you ever managed without it.
