EcoFlow Glacier Classic 35ltr
As I’ve written elsewhere, earlier on in the year EcoFlow introduced their new range of fridge freezers: Glacier Classics, and I was lucky enough to have been sent their 35 litre version to play with - sorry, review.
At 35 litres, this is the baby of the Glacier Classic range, but don’t be fooled, it’s got enough space for a solid weekend’s worth of nosh and tipples, whether you’re solo camping or out with the other half. In real terms, you’re looking at around 58 cans of pop, or enough frozen pizzas to feed an army!
It’s the perfect size for those of us who:
Don’t have a cavernous 4x4 boot (Suzuki Jimny & Fiat Panda owners, we see you).
Want something you can actually lift without rupturing a spleen.
Are done with ice packs that slosh around and soak your pork pies.
No wheels, no faffing – just grab the chunky handles and go.
Externally it measures 706mm x 400mm x 405mm, internally 487mm x 284mm x 298.5mm (W x H x D), and weighs in at 19.6kg (without battery).
Single Zone Simplicity
Unlike its bigger 45L and 55L siblings, the 35L model is a single-zone unit. That means it’s either a fridge or a freezer, not both. Pick your side: will it be chilled beers and cheese, or frozen lollies and emergency pizza?
You can dial it down as low as -25°C, which is frankly colder than most UK campsites in February, or Muddy Madam when she’s found out I’ve bought another Milwaukee product. So whether you’re keeping your milk fresh or stashing ice cream in the woods like a particularly organised bear, it’s up to the task.
Would it be nice to have dual zones? Sure. But for day trips, overnighters, and most weekenders, single-zone simplicity just works. Fewer choices, fewer things to fiddle with, and let’s be honest, you probably only want it for one main thing anyway: cold drinks and meat.
In the last few months I’ve used it for both - a freezer for when my pal brought a months worth of frozen venison home from a hunting trip, and we had no room in our kitchen freezer, and an outdoor alcohol fridge, because I could!
Optional Battery = Freedom
Now here’s where it gets clever: you can pair the Glacier 35L with EcoFlow’s optional 298Wh plug-in battery, giving you total mains-free, engine-off, go-anywhere cooling.
EcoFlow says you’ll get up to 43 hours of runtime on a single charge (when running as a fridge, not a freezer, and not constantly opened by snack-hunting children). Realistically? Expect a solid day and a half, which is bang on for a weekend getaway.
Better still, you can charge it via solar, 12V or mains, and it even plays nicely with EcoFlow’s portable power stations. Already rocking a Delta 2 or River Pro? You’re sorted.
App Control: Tweak It from Your Tent
Want to show off at the campsite? There’s an app for that. The EcoFlow app lets you:
Set the temperature (because nobody wants frozen lettuce)
Monitor battery status
Switch between Eco and Max cooling modes
Brag to your mates about your smart fridge
It connects via Bluetooth or Wi-Fi and works seamlessly, even if your phone signal is about as reliable as a politician's promise
Cooling, Noise & Build
Performance-wise, it’s impressive. From 30°C to 0°C in about 15 minutes, and down to -25°C if you’re that way inclined. You’ve got two modes:
Max – for fast chill-down
Eco – for sipping power slowly, ideal when off-grid
The compressor is quiet too, whispering along at around 35 decibels, roughly the sound of someone politely shushing you in a library. So no, it won’t ruin your night’s sleep, even if it’s right next to your bed.
The build quality is solid, chunky corners, reinforced handles, and a two-way opening lid that doesn’t feel like it’ll snap if you look at it funny. The insulation’s decent too, with 53mm of foam, which keeps the cold in even when it’s not plugged in.
Power Consumption
The EcoFlow Glacier Classic 35L uses around 60W in Max Mode and significantly less in Eco Mode once it’s at temperature. That means:
Off a car battery: fine for a few hours if your alternator’s not ancient
With solar: pair it with a 110W panel and it’ll trundle along nicely
With the EcoFlow battery: worry-free for a weekend, especially if you’re frugal with door openings
And yes, the battery even has USB-C and USB-A outputs, so you can top up your phone while keeping your beer cold. Bliss.
Price & Verdict
At around £799 (offers and deals are always available), the Glacier Classic 35L sits firmly in the premium bracket. But for that you’re getting:
Reliable cooling down to -25°C
Quiet, efficient performance
Optional battery for proper off-grid use
Smart design and app integration
Final Thoughts: Worth the Chill?
If you’re heading off-grid for the weekend and want the peace of mind that comes with knowing your bacon won’t spoil, the Glacier Classic 35L is a cracking fridge (or freezer). It's ideal for couples, solo campers, or families who don’t want to lug a big 55L monster around.
With or without the battery, it’s a game-changer for anyone who values cold food, cold drinks, and not having to mess about with melting ice blocks. Yes, it’s a chunk of money, but if you’ve already got the roof tent, the awning, and the campfire coffee setup, this is the fridge that finishes the set.
