Inverted Electrifies the Iconic Land Rover
Iconic design, silent power — and still ready to get muddy
If you think electric vehicles are all about sleek saloons and silent city commuting, think again. Inverted, the British EV conversion experts behind those drool-worthy electric Range Rover Classics, have turned their attention to another legend, the Land Rover Series I, II and III.
These rugged old workhorses, beloved by farmers, green laners and countryside dwellers alike, are now available as fully electric, zero-emissions classics. Same timeless looks. Same off-road attitude. Just a whole lot cleaner — and quicker.
A Classic, Reinvented
Each Inverted Series Land Rover starts life as an original model, lovingly reworked to modern standards while keeping its old-school charm. Customers collaborate directly with Inverted’s founder, Harry Millington, to create a bespoke build. You can keep it true to its heritage or push the boat out with something entirely unique.
But make no mistake — this isn’t just a styling exercise. Beneath the surface lies a 62kWh waterproof battery pack, cleverly split between front and rear for better balance and improved traction. A 160bhp electric motor sends a mighty 900Nm of torque straight to the original transfer box, preserving that classic high/low range and locking diff setup. You still get all the go-anywhere grit — only now with a 0–60mph time of around 8 seconds.
Charging and Range
Charging is as flexible as a folding camping stove. A 6.6kW Type 2 charger is included for slow-and-steady top-ups, while a 60kW CCS rapid charger takes you from 20% to 80% in just 38 minutes. You’ll get about 120 miles of real-world range — ideal for weekend escapes and pottering through the countryside.
Three drive modes — Eco, Traffic and Off-Road — tailor performance and regenerative braking to suit your environment. And yes, there’s electric power steering and servo brakes too, making these classic Landies far more civilised than anything that ever rolled out of Solihull.
Defenders Too? Absolutely.
Not content with converting just the Series models, Inverted’s EV kit, originally designed for Range Rover Classics, now fits seamlessly into Land Rover Defenders. It packs an 82kWh battery, complete with heating and cooling, without robbing you of any boot space.
With 300 or 450bhp motor options, permanent four-wheel-drive, and rapid charging up to 75kW, these electrified Defenders mean business. Whether it’s rain, snow or a full-on off-road slog, they’re up to the task - just without the diesel fumes.
Clean, Green, and Ready to Be Seen
“Inverting” your classic Land Rover won’t come cheap, but it will come with craftsmanship, innovation, and zero exhaust emissions. If you fancy a Series or Defender that smells less like oil and more like the future - while still climbing mountains - give Inverted a ring.
