BioLite FirePit Carry Bag

BioLite FirePit Carry Bag

The Thing It Should’ve Come With.

Let’s get this out of the way early doors: my only real gripe with the BioLite FirePit was that it didn’t come with a carry bag. When you’re buying a premium bit of kit designed to go camping, laning, beach-side or field-side, having nowhere decent to put it felt like a bit of an oversight. And yes, before anyone writes in angrily, the Petromax Atago does exactly the same thing — no bag included — so BioLite aren’t alone in this mild act of cheek. Still, only the Solo Stove Ranger 2.0 turns up already dressed for travel, which makes everyone else look a touch tight-fisted.

So, mildly miffed but still wanting to transport my FirePit without covering the boot of Deux Smurf, or any press car in ash, grease and last night’s sausage fat, I picked up the BioLite FirePit Carry Bag from my local Go Outdoors for £45.00. And… I’ll admit it — this is very good.

Built for the Job (And Then Some)
First impressions are reassuring. The bag is made from durable, water-resistant canvas, the sort that feels like it can handle being dragged across campsites, chucked in hedgerows or lobbed into the back of a muddy 4x4 without immediately giving up on life.

Stitching is solid, panels are well thought out, and it doesn’t feel like a rushed afterthought.

Crucially, it’s designed to fit the FirePit and all of its accessories - grill, fuel rack, airflow bits, the lot. Everything goes in neatly, without that awkward “is this going to tie up?” moment we’ve all had with generic carry bags. This is a proper tailored fit, and it shows.

BioLite FirePit Carry Bag

Mostly Enclosed = Still No Mess, No Stress
One of the biggest wins here is how well the bag contains the FirePit in real-world use. While it’s not fully sealed at both ends, they’re deliberately left open, the top is properly covered and secured using G-Hooks, and the fit is snug enough that ash, soot and greasy remnants stay where they should. In practice, that means no mysterious black dusting across your boot carpet and no oily smears working their way onto dog blankets or camping chairs. You can chuck it in the back of the car with confidence, without having to play boot-Tetris to keep it away from everything else.

Inside, the bag has a coated interior, which makes cleaning refreshingly easy. A quick wipe-down deals with most grime, and a good shake outside gets rid of any stubborn ash. It’s practical, sensible and designed for people who actually use their kit rather than admire it from a distance.

If you’re feeling lazy, and not bothered about flashing a bit of the grill, you don’t even have to fold in the fire pit’s legs for it to fit. As a bonus, this allows you to store pieces of wood underneath so you don’t have to go foraging when you reach camp.

Clever Storage Touches
BioLite have clearly spent time thinking about how people actually use this thing. There are outer pockets on either end, ideal for kindling, firelighters, matches or a lighter — all the little bits you inevitably lose. The external webbing and strap system also gives you a few handy lashing points if you want to clip or secure lightweight items, though it’s more about carrying confidence than quick-stash convenience. The reinforced straps, finished with a G-Hook fastening, feel properly confidence-inspiring.

Bonus Feature: Firewood Sling
Here’s a nice unexpected bonus: once the FirePit is out, the bag doubles up brilliantly as a firewood sling. Open it out, wander off like a modern-day forager, and load it up with logs, sticks and scavenged fuel. It’s a genuinely useful secondary function, especially if you don’t want to keep trudging back and forth with armfuls of wood like a Victorian chimney sweep.

Any Downsides?
Only the same one as before: this should’ve been included with the FirePit. It’s clearly designed as part of the system, not an optional extra, and once you’ve used it you realise how essential it actually is. That said, judged purely on what it is, not how it’s sold, it’s hard to fault.

Verdict
The BioLite FirePit Carry Bag is tough, well thought out and genuinely useful. It protects your car, organises your kit, carries your firewood and survives being treated with the usual Mud Life level of respect (or lack of it). It feels like the FirePit’s natural partner, even if you have to buy it separately.

Should it have been in the box? Yes.
Is it worth buying anyway? Also yes.
